Magnetic
Counters
for the chalkboard |
|
Use
magnetic counters to help teach and reinforce signed numbers. |
 |
*Hint: First
test to see if your chalkboards (or whiteboards) are magnetic.
 |
Using your word processor, create a series of
counters to represent positive and negative integers. The actual size of each
counter is approximately 3" by 3". Negative counters should be
red. |
 |
Print your pages of colored counters. |
 |
Before cutting out the individual counters,
laminate the entire page. This covering will add stability to the printer paper and aid in
the longevity of your counters. (8 ½" x 11" laminating sheets can be purchased
at business supply stores.) |
 |
Cut out the individual counters. |
 |
Place magnetic strips on the back of your counters. (Look
for "rolls" of magnetic stripping in craft departments.) |
These counters can be
kept
near the chalkboard and used to instruct, or quickly reinforce, the concepts of signed
numbers.
