Camouflage and Natural Selection (Richard Filson) Lab activity simulates how variations in species drive the process of natural selection. Diversity of Life (Sea World/Busch Gardens) Discusses how favorable variations have led to the many different species which now occupy our planet. Finch Beaks (TerraQuest) Provides a graphic representation of the finch beaks and relates it to the food they eat using a graphic. Galapago's Pages - Darwin's Finches (Dr. Robert Rothman) Provides information and pictures on many of Darwin's Galapagos Island finches. Lesson -- Variation and Natural Selection (Brad Bessetti ) Provides an example of a lesson for students on how favorable variations drive natural selection. Natural Selection in Action (Biology online.org) Discusses how variations in Darwin's finches, the peppered moth, and in phenotypes for sickle cell anemia have led to natural selection. Natural Selection Lab (Paul Weihe) Lab activity uses simulated variations "between predators" to simulate the process of natural selection. The Beaks of the Finches (Cherry Sprague) Lab activity which will allow the students to simulate feeding behaviors by different kinds of finch beaks in order to determine which are "best suited for survival". |
