contained an equal sign. Notice that one line is SOLID and
one line is DASHED.
The test point chosen here was
(1,0). The test point (0,0) could not be used for y = x
because it is ON the line. The test point made the first
inequality true, so the
shading covered the test point. It made the second
inequality false, so the shading did not cover the test point.
The solution is the area where
the two shadings overlap.
